St. Ann’s - where everyone matters.
For I know the plans I have for you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

By providing an excellent broad and balanced education, through which Christian values permeate, we will give our community hope for their future, enabling them to flourish. We want children to become resilient individuals with the skills, knowledge and understanding to make wise choices - building a positive future for themselves and others, and understanding that everyone matters.

St. Ann’s Church of England Primary School is one of the family of church schools within the Liverpool Diocese. Our welcoming school is at the heart of the community and is distinguished by its nurturing ethos which is underpinned by Christian values.

The mission for our school community is that children, parents, governors, staff and local community have the absolute best chance for their future.

Our vision is that our children leave the school as compassionate citizens who respect the rights, beliefs and individuality of others.

This is achieved through a curriculum that is driven by our Christian faith and reflects the ethos, British values and the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our children.

Our intention is to provide the children in our care with an engaging, exciting and empowering curriculum that equips them for today and tomorrow and provides them with opportunities to achieve highly. It is carefully mapped in order that children gain a bank of knowledge, skills and understanding which will enable them to move on to the next stage in their learning with confidence. To ensure that our curriculum meets the needs of our community, three key drivers, which are also three of our school’s chosen Christian Values, permeate throughout:

  • Respect – we want to teach our children to respect each other whatever their age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation; to respect the environment in which they live, their classrooms, our school, the community of Orford, Warrington, the UK and the World. We expect our children to welcome new families and show respect and care for them, embracing them as members of St. Ann’s family.
  • Hope – we want each and every one of the children within our school to have the same opportunities and choices for their future; we want the children to aspire to influence the communities in which they live for the better.
  • Perseverance – we want our children to be resilient and understand that effort brings rewards in many forms, including intrinsic enjoyment of learning.

The curriculum is implemented through excellent teaching that makes learning exciting and accessible for all. Every child is recognised as a unique individual so we challenge all our children to develop a love of learning and to reach their full potential. We celebrate and welcome differences within our diverse church school community.

Learning here is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts and values in order to prepare children for life beyond primary school. Because we believe that childhood should be a happy, investigative and enquiring time in our lives, where there are no limits to curiosity and there is a thirst for new experiences and knowledge, enrichment opportunities are provided to engage children in learning. We use the principles of Heart Smart and St. Ann’s core Christian values(respect, hope, perseverance, peace, forgiveness & reconciliation, trust & honesty) to promote positive attitudes to learning which reflect the values and skills needed to promote personal and collective well-being, responsibility for learning and future success.

Children leave St. Ann’s C E Primary School with a sense of belonging to a Christian community where they have the confidence and skills to make decisions, self-evaluate, make connections and become lifelong learners. Throughout their school journey we encourage children to grow as resilient individuals who aspire to search out and grasp all of life’s opportunities, making wise choices in order to build a positive future for themselves and others.

Jememiah 29

For I know the plans I have for you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

God’s word to the Israelites was given by the prophet Jeremiah when they were in a time of desperation as captives. This was not a promise of immediate rescue from their plight but God’s hope of a future to see them through. The Israelites were encouraged to settle down, build houses, marry and even pray for the peace and prosperity of the city in which they now found themselves. This verse is not an assurance to immediately rescue us from hardship or suffering, but rather a promise that God has a plan for our lives and, regardless of our current situation, He can work through it to prosper us and give us a hope and a future.
