St. Ann's Year 4 Class Page
Miss Fairclough is the class teacher in Year 4. She will be supported by Mrs Knight.
Year 4 is a busy, but fun and exciting place to be! We will be exploring a range of different topics. We will continue to advance the children towards more formal learning and assessment whilst fostering a sense of creativity and enthusiasm in all that we do. We encourage the children to develop their independence and take a real responsibility for their own learning.
We are looking forward to working together as a team to ensure the best for your child from September.

ALL YEAR FOUR CHILDREN WILL SIT THE STATUTORY MULTIPLICATION TABLES CHECK IN JUNE 2023.
In Year 4, children are expected to know their multiplication and division facts up to 12 x12by memory.
Children are expected to complete at least 25 minutes of TT Rockstars at home for their Maths homework a week – equivalent to 5 minutes each school day - but children are also rewarded for going above expectations. Weekly sessions are set on Friday to be completed by the following Friday.
Reading
Reading at home is essential. Please read at home together at least 4 times a week and record the session in their reading record.
- If your child is at LIME level or above, they can read twice by themselves but please ensure that the third read is with an adult.
- If your child is at WHITE level or below, please ensure that all three reads are with an adult.
When listening to your child read, please ask them questions about their book to help both develop their comprehension skills and ignite their love for reading.
All children also have a Reading Plus or Lexia account – which can count towards their weekly home reads.
