Equality and Diversity
St Ann's is an inclusive school and all children and parents are welcome regardless of their race, religion, disability or sexual orientation.
Our PSHE Curriculum teachers children about British Values and protected characteristics in a subtle and age-appropriate way. We also do Picture News assemblies with the children which links the protected characteristics and Fundamental British Values with real life, current news items. We ensure we comply with the duties in the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations to make our curriculum accessible for all. Please see the 'Ambitions for All' document below for more information.
Our school aims to meet its obligations under the public sector equality duty by having due regard to the need to:
• eliminate discrimination and other conduct that is prohibited under the Equality Act 2010;
• advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it;
• foster good relations across all characteristics - between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.
This is updated annually.
Please see below for our British Values Progression document and an example of our Picture News assembly.
Our Equality Policy and Objectives can be found in our Policy section or in our Statutory Document section.
